Something new, bright and a little dressy, because Day 1 is for visiting grandparents and family photos. Girls usually wear a cheongsam and boys a mandarin-collared shirt or Tang Shirt. Red, gold and bright prints are the traditional choice.

Which colours should we avoid for Chinese New Year?

Avoid all-black or all-white outfits, which many families associate with mourning. Red is the most popular colour because it stands for good luck. Pink, gold, turquoise and bright blue prints are also widely worn.

What is a Tang Shirt?

A traditional Chinese-style shirt with a mandarin collar and Chinese knot buttons. Our Tang Shirt (S$45.90) runs from 6M to 8Y, so a baby and an older brother can wear the same shirt.

When should I order Day 1 outfits?

Order at least a week before Chinese New Year so you have time to try sizes and exchange if needed. Standard delivery takes 2 to 3 working days and express takes 1 to 2 working days. You can also try sizes at our One Holland Village store.
